The Stratosphere Tower is a legendary landmark in Las Vegas which is known primarily for its sweeping views of the city and the desert. It clocks in at 1,149 feet high and is at the northern edge of the Las Vegas Strip. It is easily twice as high as any other building in the city. Through the observation tower, you can get a bird’s eye view of the Las Vegas Valley. Let us learn more about what to expect when you get to the Stratosphere Tower.

History

The Stratosphere Tower was constructed as a part of the Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and opened in 1996. It was originally owned by Bob Stupak who was an eccentric poker player, entrepreneur, and casino owner. It is a unique landmark on the Las Vegas skyline. The two observation decks on Stratosphere Tower provide you with scenic views of the nearby desert and most of the Las Vegas Strip.

It is not just an observation tower but also an entertainment hub that comes with a hotel, casino, and other attractions. The Hotel and Casino both are part of the complex and also provide places to stay along with gaming and food options. It is recognized globally for its height and distinct design.

Things to do at Stratosphere Tower

SkyPod which is at the top of the Stratosphere, provides a 360-degree revolving Top of the World restaurant, 107 SkyLounge, and remodeled observation deck. There are also many thrill rides and also a wedding chapel.

On the Observation Deck levels 108 and 109, the indoor space contains 108 Eats and 108 Drinks, and it is against the backdrop of interactive video maps and retail shops. You can either take in the view of the city from the safety of the windows or decide to venture out to the outdoor observation deck. There is also the SkyJump which is powered by MTN DEW and includes a controlled fall that will take you down the tower from 829 miles at 40 miles per hour. It holds the Guinness World Record for the highest commercial decelerator.

If you head three floors above the Observation Deck, you will find thrill rides over there. You can jump into the Big Shot where you will shoot 160 feet into the air at 45 miles per hour from a 921-foot-high platform up the tower’s mast to a height of 1,081 and come back down. You should not eat anything before taking this ride. There is also the Insanity ride that lifts passengers over the edge of the SkyPod and spins them at three G’s all the while turning them over to a 70-degree angle. Also, try the X-Scream roller coaster which wobbles on the edge of the SkyPod from 866 feet and then shoots it up 27 feet over the edge of the tower and just dangles over the strip.

If this is all just too much action for you, and you just want to enjoy something other people do stuff, catch Celestia. It is Stratosphere’s new production that includes acrobats and performers doing death-defying acts. Michael Jackson’s tribute show ‘MJ Live features his biggest hits such as “Bad”, “Billie Jean”, “Thriller” and “Beat It” which are produced with brilliant effects, live dance, and MJ Live dancers.
