The Glittering Evolution

Fremont Street turned Glitter Gulch in the 1930s and 1940s, thanks to its bright married nightlife. A few iconic casinos that sprang up include the Golden Nugget, Horseshoe Silver Dollars, and Fremont Hotel and Casino. Hence Fremont Street was known as Gambling Avenue in Las Vegas.

In the light of 1995, there was a transformation of sorts for Fremont Street. A thirty-five-year contract with Vortex of Chicago and Las Vegas to build what is now known as the “Fremont Street Experience” was signed in 1994. When this $70 million project was completed in downtown used up four blocks included hundreds of thousands of LEDs ten meters long (all colors), one hundred speakers per color etc. it became home to ‘Viva Vision Canopy’.
